Did you know that Victorian Metropolitan Division One Pennant is rated number 3 in the world in terms of amateur golf, following the UK and the USA’s College league?Ĭheltenham just seem to ‘ do it right’ and I recall walking down a fairway at a Pennant match last season with a President from a wealthy sand belt club who asked me “how do you guys do it?”, I looked at him and I said, “at Cheltenham, we have something that money can’t buy”, he looked at me a little surprised and asked me what that was, I replied…. The success of our men’s squad has greatly assisted our overall prestige in Victorian Golf, albeit we are a 9 hole course. AGW have provided many years of support and their commitment has no doubt assisted in growing interest in our magnificent Men’s Pennant squad - from Division 6 not that many years ago to progressing upwards to our current Division 1 status. To kick start the campaign as usual, the club would like to sincerely thank Gerd and Maria Weiss from AGW Constructions for again being the Major Sponsor of our 2015 Pennant squads. In addition, providing the newsletter during each of the 7 matches of the season, starting at our home game on March 15th, 2015 versus Commonwealth Golf Club.
Pennant Coordination entails two segments, firstly, raising sponsorship funds and membership support and secondly, managing the communications throughout the pre and post Pennant period. I would love to exceed the heights that Tony has taken the club in the sponsorship arena and I am as keen as mustard to run the 2015 campaign. He has set some high standards in both money raised, member communication and amazing exposure for the club in Pennant golf and I am raring to go.
